Young Declan's family has been killed in the violence of Northern Ireland. Angry and alone, he wants to remain in Belfast and fight the British, but he is sent by the authorities to his relatives in Canada. Declan refuses to accept their efforts to welcome him into their lives and is determined to return to Ireland and join the struggle against the British.
